Central London location

Holborn Life Drawing offers untutored, long-pose life drawing every Tuesday evening, and quick-pose drawing every other Wednesday evening, at a central location near Holborn and Russell Square.

Chilled out & friendly group

Everybody comments on what a great atmosphere there is. It's friendly, relaxed and sociable, and there's a warm welcome for newcomers.

All abilities welcome

Many of our artists are complete novices, some haven't done it for a while, and some are very experienced. The lack of pressure is much appreciated and people are very supportive of each other's work.

Long poses on Tuesday

Tuesdays we do long poses only. Each session comprises 10 mins of quick poses followed by a single, long pose (with tea break half way through), giving artists the chance to really observe and draw. 

Quick poses on Wednesday

On Wednesdays, it's strictly quick poses, ranging from 60 seconds to 15 minutes max. Very challenging, very exciting. Highly recommended!

Untutored but supportive

Holborn Life Drawing is untutored so you're free to work in your own style and without distraction, but we always check out each other's work and with such a mix of experience and styles, and a supportive environment, peope really find they make progress.

Easels, chairs, boards

We've got a great venue with plenty of space. There are easels and seated places for those working in sketchbooks or on A2 drawing boards which we supply. Plenty of opportunity to move places during the session if you wish to.

Drawing materials supplied

A1 paper, charcoal, pencils and erasers are available for sale on the night at 20p an item. Of course you're also welcome to bring your own materials as well. 

Two models each session

We employ a wide range of fantastic models - artists often comment on the quality and a round of applause at the end of the session is not uncommon!

We do have a few places available for anyone wanting to drop-in, but these are limited and you're advised to RSVP if you can. If you do want to drop-in, it's first come first served, so get there early!

Time

6.30pm to 8.30pm every Tuesday, and every other Wednesday (see the Meetup group for details of which Wednesdays we're in session).

£10 per session or pre-book 6 sessions for £50.
